In both Druidic and Roman tradition is was used for divination, consecration, cleansing, shapeshifting, and the creation of magic concoctions. Drinks made from Vervain was said to aid the work of poets and by extension prophetic work. It has deep connections to the Underworld and used to contact the dead.
